.:About Biotech Game Productions

Legend of the Hagah.:History

Biotech was officially started in the evening of February 26th, 2006 on the Bionicle fanforum BZPower (the largest Lego forum in the world). However, it's core roots can be traced back to late 2005, with the release of Iruini Nuva's first game, Legend of the Hagah (see image at right). Legend of the Hagah was a platform adventure game in which the player took on the role of Toa Iruini, one of the six elite Toa assigned to guard the powerful being Makuta. It maintained popularity for quite some time, garnering several hundred individual downloads.

Bionicle: Duel Combat
The next game to be released was Bionicle: Duel Combat. This was a 1v1 multiplayer combat game in which each player would take on the role of either a Toa of Fire or a Toa of Ice in a frantic attempt to subdue the other. Like the game before it, it was capable of maintaining its popularity. It too received downloads in the hundreds.

Biotech Game Productions was then formed as a central location where BZPower members and others could access IN's games. Around that time Piraka 3D was started. This production helped Biotech to gain a foothold and a little room to move amongst the other companies on the forum at that time. Although the P3D project was eventually halted, Biotech was still able to maintain its position. Shortly thereafter, Maze of Shadows 3D was proposed and Biotech began to expand beyond a simple 1-man enterprise.
The Insurgent

Now Biotech is producing another game - The Insurgent, which is proving to be the most challenging project we have undertaken thus far. The Insurgent is a full-scale platform shooter featuring a vastly more complex engine than any of our previous games have had - complete with HDR lighting, advanced real-world physics, and extensive particle and debris effects. With The Insurgent, our goal is to break away from the lower expectations and produce something of truly exceptional grade while not distracting from the pure enjoyment of the game. Have we succeeded? In the end, that's for you to decide.

.:Goals

Biotech and its staff have always tended to avoid groups that flaunt their work, and thus we prefer to let our work speak for us. Naturally every company has some work that it is particularly proud of (for us it's often complex particle effects, physics, and engine stability), but our goal is to simply show it through gameplay and the occasional screenshot as opposed to large flashy advertising campaigns and generally showing off. Regardless of what we think of our games, what truly matters is what you think.

Another goal is simply to make enjoyable games while still maintaining the rich effects and environments that are seen in most professional game development companies today. Seeing as we're a rather small group of freelancers (and also all teenagers), this can be challenging. But thus far, we feel we are able to and are in fact meeting the challenge, even if it means taking small steps and learning a number of new things.
